Denouncing the divisions that prevailed among Protestants, Feu-Ardent (1541–1610), as he notes in a table, gathered the substance of this "ministerial feasting" from about a hundred pastors including Luther, Melanchthon, and Theodore Beza. He notes, in this work "which caused much stir in the 16th century" (J. M. V. Audin), the contradictions of Calvinist and Lutheran doctrines.

"Fine copy having belonged to Méon and to Charles Nodier. First edition of a curious work. What joy our old Leaguer must have felt in gathering the materials which he used to compose his book, which he wittily titled ‘Ministerial Feasting’!
The Ministerial Feasting occupies only 75 pages; it is followed by the ‘Modest and Christian Replies to the Aphorisms and Furious Replies of J. Brouaut.’ The volume contains a third part entitled: ‘Replies to the Discovererof the Alleged Falsifications of F. Feu-Ardent’.
Feu-Ardent was a formidable champion whom the Calvinists greatly feared. ‘Beza,’ he says, ‘calls me “Brouillon”; but what good is such a word as an excuse for two hundred errors and contradictions I have accused him of.’" (Bulletin du bibliophile, January 1859, no.657).
